these guys rock my face off every time i see them. they had an extra band member this time, which basically ensured that none of the focus was on the band (a shame, because they are extremely talented) and all of it was on karen o, who is perhaps the best stage performer in contemporary music, and definitely the ass kickingest woman in rock today. i can't believe it's been over 3 years since i last saw the yeah yeah yeahs. i just realized that by doing a search just now actually, and it's kind of scary.

honestly the tiny masters were entertaining

but that was as much because when they sang a cover of "jump around" by house of pain i did the math and realized they weren't born when the song was first released, as it was because of any innate talent. actually, their instrumentation was pretty basic and mediocre and their screechy yelling little kid voices would grate after a short amount of time, but i've definitely seen worse bands before. take, for example, girls girls girls, the all girl motley crue cover band that had the stage before these guys. they were lifeless and bored, and as a result they killed the songs they copied. as far as concept bands go, i would much rather watch precocious preteens try as earnestly as they can, than a boring rock emulation band with dime store talent and costumes louder than their ostensibly heavy metal guitars.
these kids opened for the yeah yeah yeahs. on the right, Ivan, age 13. On the left, his sister, Ada, age 11. their drummer in the middle is the ridiculously named john spencer blues explosion drummer, russell simins.
