costa rica in the rainy season
it's not nearly as bad as i assumed it would be. it rains hard, but it doesn't rain all that often, and it doesn't really rain for all that long, either. or else maybe we just lucked out. that storm in the distance was throwing down some very impressive (although uncaptured) lightning, though.

fat, lazy, big-ass crocodiles
 boy, they are ugly animals.
this was taken from the side of a fairly non-descript bridge on the highway that goes down costa rica's pacific coast which is known for this sight. i think they call it crocodile bridge, as a matter of fact.
actually, the crocodiles here are supposedly fed with the carcasses of dead animals (pets, roadkill and inedible livestock, presumably) in order to guarantee their presence under this particular bridge, so i'd guess they've lost interest in the hunt.

we took this last picture with arenal

and then headed out on the next adventure
it looks like a smeared streak
but that's only due to long exposure.
these pictures aren't really doing this any justice

this Snaplog effect made the picture look so much like a grainy old postcard i decided to keep it
this is the second in a series.

every now and then it blows off a little steam with a slightly more serious eruption that involves a cloud, barely visible here
if you are sick of seeing these night time volcano erupting pictures. i've never seen anything cooler in my life. so deal with it.
